CAMBRIDGE – The Mitra app helps users identify core values, such as integrity, community, courage, honesty or whatever values mean most to them. The platform offers a simple, non-invasive reminder to engage in a few moments of reflection each day, helping users track the way these values come up in daily life, and identify the emotional states that influence actions and leadership.
Cultivating emotional awareness allows you to stay true to personal values. With Mitra, users explore connections between values and emotions, improving value alignment and positivity and helping to navigate life events. Mitra’s simple journal platform helps users to reflect on and record the day’s value alignment and emotion rating. Data analytics allow users to see trends in values and emotions over time.
Mitra was conceived by the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT as part of the Transformative Leadership Initiative, a program in which participants explore how to align their professional and personal values and develop reflective thinking skills for ethical development. The program was first developed and delivered at the MIT Sloan School for Management, and is now used to foster transformative leadership across all industries, from educators to corporate executives.
In a recent program in Mexico City with top executives from Santander, one participant remarked: “[Mitra] is a great app. It has helped me, on a day-to-day basis, to become more conscious of my feelings, emotions and values. The best part is that it is helping me become more aware of my progress! The app is intuitive and has the right amount of data for me to see the difference and correlations between my emotions and values.”
Mitra is available for free at the Apple App Store and Android Market. Please visit www.mitra-app.com for more information and updates on Mitra.
The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT is dedicated to inquiry, dialogue, and education on the ethical and humane dimensions of life. Our programs emphasize responsibility and examine meaningfulness and moral purpose between individuals, organizations, and societies. The Center was founded to honor the vision of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and his call for a holistic education that includes the development of human and global ethics.
