Spark Change-- an effort to recognize and celebrate our deep sense of interconnectedness in an ever changing world fraught with polarizing conversations and distrust.
Spark Change is an art-based experience that exemplifies the power of creative expressions in shaping a new generation of leaders equipped with the core values needed to better ourselves, our communities and the world around us.
The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT, in partnership with Cupixel, aims to strengthen a new generation of youth leaders and educators through #SPARKCHANGE. Our collective hope is to help participants explore character development through the practice of cognitive skills, social-emotional understanding, and perspective-taking through art-based experience.
"To gain a more profound acceptance of our cultural diversity, we must articulate and explore our values across cultural boundaries. Only then will we be able see beyond our differences - and learn to cherish our common humanity and shared purpose." --Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi
Spark Change begins with an exploration and manifestation of four principles: compassion, gratitude, kindness and fearlessness. Participants can turn their reflective art into catalyst for action by sharing online with a hashtag #sparkchange #colorsofcompassion which will create a virtual collage of artworks all designed to send out thought provoking messages of compassion and healing.
